Called by God

0

What is worth seeking in life? What is of value? Only the One who must exist and his love will last forever. Everything else is perishable. The entire universe cannot explain itself and someday will pass away as we know it. Wealth or reputation or power or whatever else a person may aim at is also temporary. As the old saying had it: “You can't take it with you.”

To be called by God to become one with God is to be called to a life that cannot end. This new way of life begins now. St. Paul said about the here and now: “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Cor 2). Only a believer can appreciate St. Paul's wonder and joy.

The meaning of life for those who believe is based on divine love. For them, only one question really matters: Lord, what would you have me be and do?

Prayer:

I want my life to have meaning, Lord. I believe that living in and by your love will give my life the fullest meaning. Keep me close to you this day.
