Compassion is suffering with

0

Jesus gives our suffering meaning through his passion. When the Word of God entered the human condition, he entered fully into our experience including the experience of suffering. He has compassion with those who are suffering. Compassion is not pity. Compassion is suffering with. Jesus has a long memory. He remembers what it feels like to be hungry and thirsty, tired and lonely. What is special about Jesus' compassion is that it is a real remedy for our souls and sometimes for our bodies.

Our names are written in the heart of Jesus. He is healing and nourishing our souls. Our part is to be open to the gift of his love. “Letting go and letting God” is not a giving up of the will to live. It is a realizing that life comes from God and a willingness to let God do the leading. Jesus asks only for our trust and willingness to cooperate with him.

Prayer:

My life is in your hands, Lord. I will let you lead and I will follow with the courage that you give me. Your spirit is not a spirit of weakness but of strength given by you to those who follow your lead.
