Confidence in the Father's saving plan

0

The supreme example of a person who turned his will and his life over to the care of his Father's lead is Jesus. Though Jesus is a divine Person his human heart did not assert power in its own right; he attributed his power entirely to his Father: “I solemnly assure you, the Son cannot do anything by himself—he can do only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise” (Jn 5). “Doing the will of him who sent me and bringing his work to completion is my food” (Jn 4).

Jesus invites us to become like him, doing the Father's will with full confidence in the Father's saving plan. He asks us to give our will and our life over into the care of God and into his care: “Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light” (Mt 11).

Prayer:

It is not the learned and the clever who find peace of heart, Lord, but rather those who learn to let go and let you lead them. I put myself in your hands.
