Disciples

0

We are learners; we are disciples. The Lord has spoken to us in the Gospel. The words of the Gospel have entered our ears and our minds. If Jesus’ words are to reach our hearts as well, we need to discover the heart of Jesus—or rather we need to let Jesus' heart discover us and teach us how to love. Then we will truly be disciples.

Our first lesson is Jesus' own growing awareness of his Father's love during the 30 “hidden” years in Nazareth. Jesus prayed in the presence of his Father and understood ever more deeply that his Father had given himself totally to the human heart of Jesus. The Father proclaimed this gift at the Baptism in the Jordan when Jesus heard the words: “This is my Beloved Son...” (Mt 3).

As Jesus' disciples, we also are loved by the Father, for the Father sees Jesus in us and us in Jesus. Jesus' Father says to each of us: “You are my beloved.”

Prayer:

I rejoice, Lord, in knowing that you created me and restored me because you love me. I rejoice that your love never ceases. I want to live this day in your love.
