In harmony with the work of the Holy Spirit

0

Jesus identified himself with Abel and all those who had been the victims of injustice (Lk 11). He still does. One can ask: Who are the victims of injustice? The most obvious answer is persons who are persecuted or shoved to one side in our society. In a broader sense, everyone is a victim of injustice. Human beings like to torment one another in great and subtle ways.

We, all of us, need reconciliation among ourselves. A community of disciples of Jesus can be a Garden of Eden or a desert depending on its spirit. We can either merely lament a lack of reconciliation in our community or try to do what we can to be peaceful members of the community. A peaceful person can have a significant effect on others. The only person we can change directly is ourselves, and even then it is not really we who are doing the work. Spiritual peace always comes from the Holy Spirit. Our part is to learn how to live in harmony with the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.

Prayer:

Let me be a peacemaker among my own, Lord. Teach me how to be part of the solution rather than merely part of the problem.
