Humility is peaceful

0

Humility is peaceful because it does not have to govern God's universe. Governing the universe is an enormous task, one which only God can perform. Indeed, governing our own lives is an enormous task if we are conscientious persons. Those who don't care what damage they do will, of course, have no problem. Those who do care will find the task of governing their own lives impossible from time to time.

As disciples of Jesus we never need to govern our own lives. That doesn't mean that we never make decisions. It means that we make every decision in the light of Jesus' guidance. In the end he takes responsibility. That is not an evasion if we are truly honest in following the lead of the Lord. Mistakes will occur because of errors in seeing. Simple mistakes have never gotten in Jesus' way in achieving his purposes. Only human conceit can prove to be a real obstacle.

Prayer:

Enlighten my mind, Lord, and guide my steps so that I walk the path you have chosen for me. When I err repair the harm I may have done and enable me to learn from my errors while I continue to follow after you.
