Jesus' prayer

0

Jesus is God. Jesus is human. As God he has the power to lift us up. As One who is human he understands and enters into our human hearts. There is nothing we can experience that he has not experienced, except sin and for that he has the remedy, his loving forgiveness.

Jesus' prayer is the model for our own. Jesus' prayer began by listening to his Father. Only the Father knows his own plan for renewing the world. Only the Father knows what is truly healing and saving. Jesus was open to the word of his Father and filled with the Holy Spirit.

At every moment, the Spirit moved Jesus to ask, “Father, what would you have me be and do?” What is human in Jesus was always in harmony with the divine will. In us too what is human can be lifted up into the life of God, if we give ourselves entirely to our Father's plan for us.

Prayer:

Lord, I put my hand in yours because I trust you. Lead me according to your wisdom, and keep my heart serene whatever may come along this day. I long for your peace in my prayer and in my work.
