Not a matter of being clever

0

“On one occasion, Jesus spoke thus: 'Father, Lord of heaven and earth, to you I offer praise; for what you have hidden from the learned and the clever you have revealed to the merest children. Father, it is true. You have graciously willed it so. Everything has been given over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son but the Father, and no one knows the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him' “ (Mt 11).

Seeking through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God is not a matter of being learned and clever. There are people who spend a lot of time and effort to create spiritual experiences for themselves. They travel to the ends of the earth to find the divine “All.” Jesus reveals himself and his Father only to “the merest children.” If we think we are able to lift ourselves up to God we will certainly never rise up to him. He reveals himself to whom he wishes and as he wishes. All we can do is wait on him and be present to him.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, be with me now, be with us now, as we walk upward and out of ourselves into your life, into your love. Lead me, lead us to the Father.
