Original Grace

0

Jeremiah and St. Paul said that they had been called from their mothers' wombs (Jer 1;Gal 1). Their Original Grace came long before any choice was made by the prophet or apostle. Each then received a further revelation and a mission.

Isaiah gives a remarkable account of his Original Grace (Is 6). In his vision he was first overawed by the holiness of God. Then he saw his own sin and the sins of his people. Finally when God had purified him, Isaiah became willing to be God's spokesperson.

Each of Jesus' disciples can say: “There is nothing more important for me than the bond between my heart and the heart of Jesus—a bond he established when he first called me to himself. My call began when I began to be, though I did not know it then. By his gracious gift I know it now. In God's eternal “now” this day is a new beginning of my original call, my Original Grace.”

Prayer:

Lord, you knew me before I came to be and you know where I am going. You are my beginning and my goal. Lead me this day along the steps I must take to arrive forever in paradise with you.
