Prayerful union with God

0

The great advantage of a prayerful union with God is that it tunes the heart, as it were. It is undoubtedly the best way to come into harmony with the mind and heart of God. Then everything we are and do will be influenced by that prayer and the union that results.

Some see prayer mainly as an experience; others seek special knowledge. Of what use is either if prayer does not bring us into harmony with the mind and heart of God? Jesus promised that the pure of heart would see God. We see God reflected in our own hearts. Modern philosophers insist that we must live our philosophy even to understand it. There is a parallel in the spiritual life. St. Paul wrote: “...the life I live now is not my own; Christ is living in me” (Gal 2). Paul reproduced the path of Jesus in his own career. We are called to do the same in both our prayer and our way of living.

Prayer:

Lord, you have taught me to get ready for prayer by living in union with you and preparing for union with you in my daily life by praying: Lord, what would you hare me be and do? Thank you for enlightening me and calling me back from self-seeking in prayer or life.
