Taking life in stride

0

As we advance in years we learn to take life in stride, but that doesn't mean that we may not feel fear. The 71st Psalm was composed by a psalmist in his old age. Toward its close, he says:
O God, you have taught me from my youth, and till the present I proclaim your wondrous deeds; and now that I am old and gray, O God forsake me not, till I proclaim your strength to every generation that is to come. Your power and your justice, O God, reach to heaven. You have done great things; O God, who is like you? Though you have made me feel many bitter afflictions, you will again revive me; from the depths of the earth you will once more raise me. Renew your benefits to me and comfort me over and over. So will I give you thanks with music on the lyre, for your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing your praises with the harp, O Holy One of Israel!
Prayer:

Whether I be young or old, Lord, you are always faithful to your promise. In youth you call me from my folly. In old age you keep your word to me. I believe that there is no time or circumstance that can separate me from your loving care.
