The way we pray changes

0

The prayers of youth are hot; the prayers of old age can be cold. Jesus hears them both. He hears the enthusiasm which would do great things for him. He hears the plea that needs his ear. Most of all, he hears what comes from our hearts when we treat him as a friend. There is great tenderness in Jesus, a lover who is both noble and gentle.

Whatever we do for him is really an opportunity which he gives us, and when we plead we are only recognizing that we, like all human beings, depend on him. As years pass, the way we pray to Jesus changes but our fundamental relationship with him does not change. When we have run the full course from youth to old age we can see more clearly that love of Jesus gives meaning to what we do. That is why it is so important to inquire about what Jesus has on his mind for us. Only then will we have peace of heart, whether we are able to do much or little.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, you see my life in its full span all the way to union with you in paradise. Wherever I may be on this journey, you are with me, to hear my dreams and pleas. I thank you for your loving kindness.
