The wind blows where it will

0

Jesus said to Nicodemus: “The wind blows where it will. You hear the sound it makes but you do not know where it comes from, or where it goes. So it is with everyone begotten of the Spirit” (Jn 3).

We cannot predict how the Spirit of God will move in our lives for the simple reason that we don't know what our future holds or the best way to proceed into that future. God's Spirit prepares for what we cannot even suspect. He may strengthen us beforehand for a trial only God knows about. He may stir up our love so that we will be loving toward another human being in need of our assistance.

Moreover grace comes when it will, even in the midst of activities. The Spirit of God is not confined by our set times of prayer. Though it is true that prayer is an ideal occasion for coming into contact with God's Spirit it is by no means the only occasion. God creates these as he needs them.

Prayer:

Keep me ready, Lord, to respond to your Spirit whenever the Holy Spirit visits me whether in prayer or activity. Then I will always be guided most wisely, praying and working in your peace.
