Tired of crises

0

After wrestling our way through denial, anger and bargaining, the failure of it all leads to depression and feelings of guilt and sometimes even a sense of “impending doom.” If we do not choose to change we will recycle through more of the same. The anger at self which occurs at this time is useful only if it motivates us to change. Taken together this whole pattern protects the insane idea that we can take chances with living our lives in the same old pattern.

Another insane feature of such a life is a loss of focus. There is no longer any lasting meaning. From day to day we drift from crisis to crisis without a realistic goal. There is something in the human spirit which becomes deeply dissatisfied with living this way. That is the point where we begin to look for something more. A Power greater than ourselves provides a focus and a source of hope. For Christians, the Power greater than ourselves is Jesus.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, only you can give focus to my life and heal the insanity which so easily takes over when I am my own guide. I am tired of crises. I want the joy of living which only you can give.
