Second Sunday in Ordinary Time 2017
Each of us has the vocation to give witness to God. The first reading states: “The Lord said to me: You are my servant.” In the second reading, Paul says: “I am called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God.” John in the Gospel declares: “the one who sent me to baptize...”
We see the recurring theme of people discovering their vocation in life. Did you ever ask yourself: “what is my vocation in life?” God has created me, given me life and sustains my life for a reason: what does he want of me? In today’s readings, Isaiah, Paul and John the Baptist all discovered their divine purpose, their vocation. What is God calling me to do in my life? I have a vocation, a divine purpose. I am unique and called to witness to God in my uniqueness.
Lord help me to discover the greatness of my own being in your presence and to witness to you in my life!
