We will never cease to be

0

Not one of us will ever cease to be. That is an awesome thought. Youth rarely thinks about death; old age may think about little else. Yet death is only an event in an immortal journey which has no end. Here on earth it is a journey toward God, though God is within. In paradise it is a journey into God whose beauty is limitless.

The art of living a spiritual life is the ability to live the present moment in God's eternal “now.” That can only happen if we think, feel and act in accord with God. That, in turn, requires attention to God. Such attention is a kind of prayer.  When we live the present moment in God's eternal “now” everything that happens to us comes into perspective. We see the passing character of all earthly events. We see much more clearly what is valuable, for us and others, and what is not. It becomes easier to let go of the useless and harmful.

Prayer:

In your light, Lord Jesus, I can see that I have often gone after shadows. I want to live my day in the light of your eternity. Free me from obsession which will certainly pass away so that I may possess what remains forever.
