What happened after Jesus touched their lives?

0

Generally, in reading Scripture we don't discover what happened after Jesus touched the life of this or that person. We can only guess. What did the lame and the blind feel about him? What did Jesus' outreach to the woman taken in adultery do to her life? In regard to the major characters of the New Testament we are told more. Now and again, as with the thief on the cross, there are some words to show us Jesus' effect on those who discovered him. But usually these people come and go in the Gospels with no further trace.

Meeting Jesus intimately in the moment of being freed by him must have been an experience which thoroughly shook up the early disciples. No one had ever shown them such tenderness and understanding. The Jesus they knew did not judge them but wanted to save them. He beheld their humanity and their need. He understood that his Father reaches out to all, even “the ungrateful and the wicked” (Lk 6).

Prayer:

I encounter you in prayer, Lord Jesus. Yet I meet you also in every person and every event of my daily life. May I come to recognize your presence everywhere and in everyone.
